A consulting firm listed with the BAFA has a BAFA accreditation or consultant number (#228368), which is included in the grant application. This number confirms that the formal requirements for participation in the grant program have been met.

Formal Requirements for BAFA Listing

To register and maintain their listing, consultants and consulting firms must meet the following requirements, among others:

Independent business activity in the market
Primary business purpose in paid management consulting (more than 50% of total revenue)
Professional competence for the consulting services offered
Personal and financial reliability
A suitable quality assurance mechanism
Proper management to ensure that consulting services are provided in accordance with guidelines

A key document in BAFA consulting is the consulting report, which concludes every funded consulting engagement. This report follows a structure prescribed by the BAFA and contains an analysis of the initial situation as well as implementation-oriented recommendations for operational practice.

Conducting the Consultation

Note: A BAFA-funded consultation does not necessarily have to take place on-site. Depending on the issue and the circumstances, the consultation can also be conducted digitally or in a hybrid format, provided that the requirements of the funding guidelines are met.

Both established companies and startups may be eligible for funding. Additional formal steps are required for startups.

Eligible consulting costs: up to €3,500 per consultation
Grant:
- 50% in regular funding regions
- up to 80% in selected regions
A maximum of two consultations per year and five consultationsduring the program period (according to current guidelines)

The funding will be paid out as a non-repayable grant after the consultation is completed.
